How we work

Appointments Only

Zeitgeist Kollektiv is a private studio, this means we only work by appointment. It is not possible to just walk in to discuss your tattoo and make an appointment. In order to help you as best as possible, we prefer to discuss everything online. We respond to your e-mail as soon as possible. No stress, will get back to you whenever we can.

You can reach us at info.zkatelier@gmail.com from Monday to Friday. Of course, you can send an e-mail during the weekend. We will contact you on Monday!

E-mail Contact

We will carefully review your e-mail to see if we understand everything correctly. If there are any uncertainties from us, we will of course contact you! If you are not sure with whom you want to make an appointment we can figure it out for you. Together we will look for suitable dates to schedule the tattoo appointment.

Deposit

This appointment will be confirmed when you have paid the deposit. Deposits are ultimately settled on the date you have your appointment. If you have multiple appointments your deposit will be settled on the day of your last session.

Cancellations

Appointments can be moved, changed or cancelled. However, this must be communicated at least 2 days prior to the appointment. If this is not the case the deposit will be settled. Of course, we will reschedule your appointment together.

Tattoo Day

You will see the final design on the day of the appointment, so unfortunately it makes no sense to ask in advance whether the studio can forward something, but don't panic! There is always room for adjustments and changes if needed on the day of the appointment itself. We plan our appointments well so there is enough space for us to make the perfect design.

House Rules

We’re a safe space for all human beings, we respect each other. We do not tolerate hate and there is absolutely zero tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobic, transphobic, body shaming or any other kind of discrimination in the studio. Leave your judgements at the door! We’re wheelchair friendly! We do have an elevator and a wheelchair friendly toilet in the building!

Hygiene is our top priority! We work according to the national measures of the GGD. If you have any symptoms, we would love to rescedule appointment. Please let us know in advance but most important: take care of yourself and stay healthy!

We want everyone to feel at home in our studio. If something is bothering you please come talk to us to make sure you will feel comfortable.

RISKS & DISCLAIMERS

Information about the risks of tattoos

There are always risks involved when getting tattooed. At Zeitgeist we always work to the highest possible standards of hygiene and customer care, however it is also important that you turn up to your appointment well rested and hydrated. It is advisable to eat something beforehand, and bring snacks with you. Please inform us of any medication or skin problems, allergies, epilepsy and hypersensitive reactions.

We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions, however, when you leave the studio it is your job to look after your new tattoo. We cannot take responsibility for anything resulting from poor aftercare/hygiene. In the unlikely instance that your tattoo becomes infected it is essential that you contact your doctor for medical assistance. Zeitgeist will do everything in our power to help give you the best end result possible including complimentary touch ups once your tattoo has fully healed.

Please note that everyone’s healing journey will be different, with factors such as skin type and lifestyle making a big difference. Touch ups are a common part of the tattoo process so please do not hesitate to get in touch with your artist to discuss your options as we are always happy to help.

Allergic Reaction?

An allergic reaction is nothing more than an overreaction of the immune system. When tattooing an unknown substance enters the body. Our immune system reacts to this in order to protect us against this foreign substance. It does this by encapsulating the dye in cells. For many people, and the immune system stops responding, because the ink is safely stored within the skin. But sometimes the immune system continues to respond. The encapsulation does not stop the immune system response. But no worries! Being on time with the right people and the right treatment you and your tattoo will be fine.

In the past, allergic reactions occurred because the ink contained heavy metals such as chrome, cobalt or mercury. Lead was also used in ink pigments in the past. However, nowadays the ink is much safer. But not everyone realizes that tattoo ink can also cause an allergic reaction and that this reaction does not have to occur immediately but can also happen over time. Most people can’t stop after one tattoo. Compare it with a bee sting, the first time the allergic reaction is not too bad, but with the next sting, the reaction level increases. This is because allergic sensitization occurs in the body, the more frequent contact with the “allergen” (the foreign substance), the more severe the reaction. When the allergy persists for a longer period of time, it overloads the body and can cause other sensitivities, such as pollen and house mites. It is then thought that this is the cause of the allergy, and it is often not possible to find out that the original or real cause lies with the tattoo ink.
